Yingge Rongsheng Theater (鶯歌榮聲戲院) - Spectral Codex

Rongsheng Theater (榮聲戲院) was established in Yingge in 1963 by Jiang Zongxi (江宗喜), who has been operating an open-air theater next to what is now the Yingge Presbyterian Church (鶯歌教會) for many years. It reputedly held 728 seats and was among the largest theaters in Taipei County when it was completed. Business records indicate it operated until around 1987 after which it closed down. Beyond that, there is considerable uncertainty about the ultimate fate of the theater, but it was likely demolished and replaced by a newer mixed-use development fronting onto Guoqing Street (國慶街).

Some degree of uncertainty remains about the exact relationship between the Rongsheng Theater and the Nanmen Market Building (南門商場大樓), which presumably opened next to the theater in 1968. The market building has been renovated beyond recognition so there’s some chance part of the original structure of the theater might have been incorporated into it at some point, but there is no definitive evidence to support this.
