A coal mining operation in Yingge consolidated in 1940 under the Kyōei Coal Mining Company (共榮炭礦株式會社), merging the No. 1 pit of the former Kyōei Coal Mine and the No. 2 pit of the former Sanwa Coal Mine (三和炭礦) along with several earlier concessions worked under various operators since the early Japanese colonial era. After the war it was taken over by Lai Senlin (賴森林) and renamed Huyi Coal Mine (互益煤礦). An extensive pushcart network served the mines, connecting to the main railway station. Both mine portals are now lost but several outbuildings survive. Additionally, traces of a company Shinto shrine can still be found in the hills north of town.
