Hsinchu Racecourse

A large-scale horse racing venue completed in June 1938, during the Japanese colonial era, in what is now an industrial park in Xiangshan. It replaced a smaller course at the foot of Shibajianshan that had opened only three years earlier. Built by the prefectural livestock association at a cost of 260,000 yen, it had a circumference of approximately 1,600 meters and was the largest racecourse in Taiwan at the time. In the post-war period it was completely dismantled. No trace remains apart from the shape of the outer track in the positioning of buildings at the southwestern perimeter of the site.
