Ximen Red House was repurposed for use as a traditional opera venue (紅樓劇場) after the war. With the increasing popularity of cinema this, in turn, was converted into a cinema (紅樓戲院) around 1958. In the late 1970s it became a second-run theater and by the 1980s it became known for screening pornographic content as well as being a popular cruising spot. The exact date of closure for the theater is unknown, but it likely shut down by the early 1990s.
