Taipei Dongyuan Theater

A smaller theater on the street of the same name (東園街) in Wanhua, near Dongyuan Market (東園市場). It operated from around 1971 until sometime in the 1990s, though business was never strong; it screened adult content in its later years but this failed to save it. Like many neighbourhood theaters of the era, it sat on a narrow lot with a long entrance corridor leading to a square main building. After closure it was redeveloped into an 11-story mixed-use building called Dongyuan City (東園市), completed in 1996, which subsequently became an infamous failed development after the builder went bankrupt.
