Xinfeng Waterfall Recreation Area

In the 1980s an unlicensed recreation area prospered along a pathway to Xinfeng Waterfall on the edge of Toucheng in Yilan. It closed by the county government sometime in the 1990s, leaving a variety of ruins along the rail, including an outdoor swimming pool, visitor center, and other facilities. In 2017 a “night tour” group found a corpse in one of the old buildings, reigniting interest in the old amusement park. The trail to the waterfall was destroyed at some point and it is now necessary to go river tracing to reach the site, so be prepared should you visit. The waterfall was also known as Jinmian Waterfall (金面瀑布) for a time.
