A three-storey eclectic shophouse at the corner of Taiwan Boulevard (台灣大道) and Pingdeng Street (平等街) in Central Taichung, opened in 1929 as the Shōwa Dental Clinic by dentist Zhang Shenxin (張深鑐, 1901–1995), a pioneer of the dangwai opposition movement and a founding member of the DPP. The “Shōwa” name drew official objection after the war, prompting a rename and the practice’s relocation; the premises later housed the Qingsheng Clinic (慶生診所) and now stand idle.
