Established in 1952 as Jindu Theater (金都大戲院) in a laneway just off what is now Taiwan Boulevard (台灣大道一段306巷). The building was designed by Lu Yansheng (盧炎生). It struggled to compete with the many other theaters opening in the early 1960s and was renamed following a change of ownership in 1964. It closed in 1973 and was replaced by the Daduhui Building (大都會大樓) still standing on this site today.
