Xīnpǔ (新埔) is an urban township located immediately to the east of Zhubei. Formerly known by the indigenous name Balīguō (吧哩啯), it was settled by Chinese people in the early 18th century. Nowadays it is a strongly Hakka district and home to Bāozhōngtíng Yìmín Temple (褒忠亭義民廟), the top-ranking Yimin temple in Taiwan.
