An important center of Xuanwu (玄天上帝) worship in Taiwan, situated at approximately 440 meters elevation at the southern end of Baguashan in Mingjian, Nantou. According to temple legend it was established in 1657, when settlers from Fujian first brought incense here, but a more substantiated date of founding would by 1745. The complex was rebuilt as a three-storey structure between 1973 and 1976, gutted by a fire in June 2000, and reconsecrated in December 2008. The associated pilgrimage cycle was registered as intangible folk-religious heritage in 2012.
