Completed in 1931, this was originally the private residence of a wealthy businessman. The original residence of the Keelung Fortress Commander was heavily damaged by air raids during World War 2 and when the KMT arrived they expropriated this building for the same purpose. Although the fortress command was dissolved in 1957 the last commander continued to reside here until it was subleased to another family.
