A small hydroelectric plant in the Shapodang area built by the Karenkō Electric Company (花蓮港電氣株式會社) between 1926 and 1928. Originally named the Karenkō No. 2 Hydroelectric Station to distinguish it from the earlier No. 1 plant upstream. The intake channel was destroyed by flooding in 1944 and, with Japan unable to effect repairs during the final stages of the Pacific War, the plant never returned to service. Decommissioned by Taipower shortly after the war.
