There is an old Japanese colonial era sedimentation tank along Jianguo Road Section 2, on the way to the water company facility deeper into the mountains. It seems to have only been recognized in 2024 after the site was cleared, and the entrance sealed. The soft exterior of the building has many etchings accumulated over the years in multiple languages. Much remains to be elucidated about this cultural asset, though it is almost certainly a component of the Hualien Port Waterworks (花蓮港水道) system.
