This complex belongs to the National Hualien Vocational High School of Agriculture, which traces its origins to a Japanese colonial era school for Amis Indigenous students established in 1921. It was relocated to its present site in 1942. The Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine department added in 1965 made the school one of the oldest institutional livestock training facilities in eastern Taiwan. Much of the farm now sits idle, with several outbuildings in visibly poor repair as the school’s livestock operations have wound down. It has attracted the attention of the urban exploration community in recent years, but the site is not completely unmanaged.
