Traces of a former Japanese colonial era police garrison survive high in the mountains of Baxianshan (八仙山), reached after trekking several hours into the forest from the visitor center. The remnants lie along routes taken by hikers tracing the old forest railway that once traversed this rugged terrain. Beyond lies the ruins of Liming Shinto Shrine.
