A former Japanese immigrant settlement in Zhaojia Village (趙甲里) that was part of Yuancheng Farm (源成農場), established in 1909 by Aikuzawa Naoya’s Sanwu Company (愛久澤直哉的三五公司). Japanese settlers from Niigata, Kumamoto, and Fukuoka were recruited to maintain protective forests, but most left due to flooding from Zhuoshui River (濁水溪) and poor conditions; Hakka settlers from Miaoli later replaced them. Traces of the Japanese origins of the village might still be found in the form of a pair of old stone lanterns and some broken tombstones bearing Japanese names.
