Shalun Anti-Aircraft Artillery Base

A former anti-aircraft artillery base on elevated ground in Shalun Village (沙崙里), Dayuan, close to the coastline. It was originally established as a 35mm rapid-fire battery site under the ROCAF Air Defense Artillery Command (空軍防空砲兵司令部), tasked with defending Taoyuan Air Base, and also housed a Sparrow missile position (麻雀飛彈陣地). Following the relocation of the 401st Tactical Composite Wing to Hualien the 207th Anti-Aircraft Battalion (空軍防砲第207營) took over the compound. The battalion was disbanded on July 1, 2012, part of a Ministry of National Defense force reduction program, and the base has stood idle since. It falls outside the Taoyuan Aerotropolis (桃園航空城) expropriation zone; Taoyuan City Sports Bureau plans to redevelop the site as a sports and recreation facility.
