GALERIE Bistro (家樂利小酒館) occupies a three-storey Western-style mansion built in 1931, during the Japanese colonial era, next to what is now Xinzhongshan Linear Park. The building was acquired and remodelled by Liu Tianlu (劉天祿), the overseas Chinese businessman behind the Yuanshan Recreation Center, and served as his family’s residence and the registered seat of Yongchang Industrial (永昌實業), the firm founded by his eldest son Liu Jiezhou (劉介宙). It stood empty for some two decades after 1988. In 2008 Liu’s great-granddaughter Liu Yili (劉怡利) spent over NT$20 million restoring the house, replacing its collapsed timber roof with a steel structure, and opened the present bistro on the ground floor while the upper floors remain private. It was listed as a Taipei historic building in 2023.
