Originally established as Denki-kan (電氣館), a purpose-built movie theater in 1932. It was built with reinforced concrete and was one of the only structures in central Chiayi to survive the firebombing of the city in 1945. After the Japanese surrender it was acquired by Ke Lin (柯麟), a prominent local businessman and politician. Ke was one of many local elites swept up in the 228 Incident and executed without trial in front of Chiayi Railway Station in 1947. The theater continued to operate until 1993. It was located on Xinrong Road (新榮路) opposite Huangjue Hotel (皇爵飯店). Demolished long ago.
