A narrow, modernist-influenced reinforced concrete and timber shophouse in the heart of Chiayi City, originally built in 1931 by the Japanese doctor Sakai Torajiro (酒井寅次郎) and later operated as a tea parlor known as Tsumoto Kissabu (津本喫茶部) from 1935. After the war Dr. Huang Wen (黃文), a physician trained under Du Congming (杜聰明) who played a notable role in Chiayi’s medical and educational history as well as the 228 Incident, acquired the property and converted it into his Yusheng Clinic (育生診所) and family home. The building was designated a city monument in 2020. As of the mid-2020s it appears to be under renovation.
