One of the three great temples of old Zhuluo (諸羅), founded in 1716 by county magistrate Zhōu Zhōngxuān (周鍾瑄) and now a national monument. The city god enshrined here is the only county-level Chenghuang in Taiwan to have received an imperial title, having been promoted in 1875 after helping defend the city during the 1862 Dai Wansheng Rebellion. The current main hall was rebuilt between 1937 and 1940 by Quanzhou master craftsman Wáng Jǐnmù (王錦木) using an entirely mortise-and-tenon structure without a single nail.
