Completed in 1936 opposite what is now Changhua Girls’ High School, this was the top-ranking police station in Changhua City in the Japanese colonial era and headquarters of a bureau created when the town was elevated to city status in late 1933. The Government-General’s building and repairs section supervised construction of the two-storey reinforced concrete building, which has a curved façade at the street corner and a cell block on its south side. The writer Loa Ho (賴和) was among those detained here. It continues to serve as a police station today.
