Several saltworks were established around Xinwen Village (新塭村) in the Japanese colonial era. In the post-war period they were absorbed by Budai Saltworks as the No. 9 Production Area (第九生產區) and No. 10 Production Area (第十生產區), along with the outlying Huweiliao Saltworks.
