The former residence of Jiang Xiulian (姜秀鑾), pioneering leader of the Jinguangfu Company, which led the Han settlement effort in this part of Taiwan beginning in the mid-1830s. Along with the neighboring Jinguangfu Mansion it is recognized as a national monument.
