Completed in 1926, during the Japanese colonial era, as the first reinforced concrete residence in the Beipu area. It was expanded in the post-war era to provide for a medical clinic operated by the Deng family, Shiyuan Hospital (世源醫院). Since 2009 it has operated as the Deng Nanguang Photography Museum (鄧南光影像紀念館), dedicated to a son of the family (1907–1971) who became one of the pioneering photographers of Taiwan and documented Hakka life in his hometown.
