A shrine venerating the unknown dead in the coastal zone of Bali, New Taipei. According to legend it was originally constructed by Japanese soldiers stationed in this area due to rumors of Dutch ghosts haunting the area. A closer examination of the historical record suggests Qing troops were stationed here during the Sino-French War and many perished due to disease and exposure.
