This village was originally the Kavalan settlement Kikarriawan. Han Chinese migration to the area eventually prompted the Kavalan to emigrate. In the 1970s a large number of human remains were discovered while building the nearby community center (季新社區發展協會). The remains, presumably those of the Kavalan Indigenous people who lived here prior to the Han Chinese, were collected and entombed within this small shrine. Since the Kavalan people have all emigrated there wasn’t any Indigenous input into the design, which is why it looks pretty much like any other shrine for old bones in Taiwan. Also known as the Jialiwan Dazhong Temple (加禮宛大眾廟).
