A wood-carved idol for deified Japanese colonial era police officer Morikawa Seijiro (森川清治郎), venerated across Taiwan as Yi’aigong (義愛公).

A temple venerating Yi’aigong (義愛公), a deified Japanese police officer whose mortal name was Morikawa Seijiro (森川清治郎). Posted to this fishing district, he petitioned his superiors on behalf of villagers crushed by heavy levies and, rebuked for overstepping, took his own life. He was later deified after his spirit was credited with protecting the community through a 1923 epidemic, and appears on the main altar seated in police uniform. Several other temples revere this same figure, but this is the original from which the others descend.
