A kamikaze airfield completed in Bade, Taoyuan, in October 1944. The originally runway was dismantled in the post-war era but the site was soon, with US assistance, transformed into Bade Airfield (八德飛行場). It was renamed Huaisheng Airfield (懷生機場) in 1962 to honor Chen Huaisheng (陳懷生), a Black Cat Squadron pilot killed flying a U-2 reconnaissance mission over mainland China. After decades of military use the base was decommissioned in 1998; as of the mid-2020s the site is actively being demolished for redevelopment.
