A military dependents’ village in Daxi established in 1957 with donations from overseas Chinese. A stone monument originally inscribed with calligraphy by Soong Mei-ling marked the entrance. The original was lost during the redevelopment of the village into modern apartment blocks but a pair of replicas now stand at the entrance to the community.
