Originally built in 1914, this old warehouse immediately west of Taipei Main Station was in a terrible state of disrepair in the 2000s. Eventually it was designated a heritage property, but the restoration effort proved highly controversial as it involved completely disassembling the original structure and remaking it from the foundation up. Since reopening it is now a small museum, exhibition space, café, and visitor center operating as Taipei Info Hub (臺北記憶倉庫). Parts of the original building are preserved within.
The top of the old façade is on display inside the new exhibition space.
A gritty old photo from 2016, back when the original building was still standing.
I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
