A surviving wing of Umeyashiki (梅屋敷), a Japanese inn and restaurant founded in 1900, where Sun Yat-sen rested for several hours under close Japanese surveillance during a stopover in Taipei on August 5th, 1913. The KMT took possession of the property after the war and opened the room as a memorial hall in 1953. Railway undergrounding works forced its dismantling in the 1980s, and it was rebuilt 50 meters to the northeast within a Chinese garden opened as Yat-sen Park in 1987. It was registered as a historic building in 2007.

I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
