An idiosyncratic temple in Yangmei dedicated to Bai Suzhen (白素貞), the shapeshifting serpent heroine of Legend of the White Snake (白蛇傳), and known for housing dozens of living white snakes on the premises. This temple grew out of a private menagerie kept by warehousing entrepreneur Luo Qinshi (羅欽師), who attributed a run of business luck to a pair of albino rat snakes. Luo converted a disused electronics factory into the temple in 2002. Visitors are sometimes permitted to touch the snakes and collect shed skins for home veneration, and petitions are commonly made for wealth, marriage, and health.
