An important and historic sugar refinery on the south side of Xinying. It was originally the primary facility used by Ensuikō Sugar Refining Co., Ltd. (鹽水港製糖株式會社) in the Japanese colonial era. Construction began in 1907 and it was in almost continuous operation until closing in 2001. Many buildings were later demolished and much of the factory was in ruins for the better part of a decade but several facilities have since been recognized for their heritage value and the factory grounds have been partly converted for tourism as of the late 2010s.
