Ershizhang Fude Temple (新店二十張福德宮) - Spectral Codex
新店二十張福德宮

A Tudigong (土地公) temple in Xindian rebuilt in its present form in 1974. Beside it stands a smaller shrine to Shenglinggong (聖靈公), the deified Japanese army surgeon Major Aoki (青木少佐), also known simply as the Japanese Lord (日本公). Aoki practised medicine in the area during the Japanese colonial era and was murdered in his home in early 1946 while awaiting repatriation; locals enshrined his spirit tablet, and after the original hall was lost a divination directed that he be given a place here. His feast day falls on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month, when offerings of sushi and sake are made.
