國家人權博物館

National Human Rights Museum is located within Jing-Mei White Terror Memorial Park (白色恐怖景美紀念園區) in Xindian. The site served as the Taiwan Garrison Command (臺灣警備總司令部) military court and detention center from 1968, where political prisoners were tried and held during the White Terror. Notable detainees included Huang Hsin-chieh (黃信介), Bo Yang (柏楊), Shih Ming-teh (施明德), Lu Hsiu-lien (呂秀蓮), and Chen Chu (陳菊), many of whom became prominent figures in Taiwan’s democratization movement. Formally established as a national museum in 2018, it preserves the original detention facilities and courtrooms as memorial spaces. The museum also administers Green Island White Terror Memorial Park (綠島白色恐怖紀念園區), another former political prison site off the east coast.
