European Colonial Era Taiwan

The European Colonial Period (荷西統治時期) refers to the middle of the 16th century, during the competing rule of Dutch Formosa (1624–1662) and Spanish Formosa (1626–1642). Few physical remnants of the European presence can be found outside of Tainan, but traces remain in language and culture.
