Erected in 1815, this archway commemorates Lin Chaoying (林朝英) for a donation to fund the building of a school and the Confucian Temple. It was slated for demolition in the early 1930s as the Japanese colonial authorities carried out an extensive urban renewal project in Tainan. Descendants of Lin Chaoying petitioned the government to relocate the archway to Tainan Park (臺南公園) in 1934. It was most recently restored in 1992. It is one of four surviving memorial archways in Tainan.
