Formally known as Yingchun Gate (迎春門), this was one of the 14 city gates of the old city of Tainan. It was originally established in 1726 and significantly upgraded tin 1736 and again in 1788 after the Lin Shuangwen rebellion (林爽文事件). It was rebuilt in the 1970s and is now recognized as a national monument.
