A two-storey wooden zhaitang (齋堂), or fasting hall, built around 1905 in Tainan, affiliated with the Jintong (金幢) school of Zhaijiao (齋教). The hall was originally founded in 1897 at a nearby site under the name Xizhu Hall (西竺堂) before being displaced by Japanese colonial officials’ housing and relocated here. The name changed to account for the similarity in the pronunciation of the two characters. It was registered as a historic building in 2016 but does not appear to be regularly open to the public as it is located within a gated compound set back from the main road.
