A zhaitang (齋堂), or fasting hall, of the Cai Agong (蔡阿公) sect of the Jintong (金幢) branch of the Zhaijiao (齋教) folk religion, sharing its lineage with Tainan’s Xide Hall. The exact founding date is unrecorded, but an 1866 stele at the site lists a fifth-generation leader among its donors, suggesting the hall may go back as far as the Qianlong reign. The same stele documents a series of expansions from 1844 to 1855 and the purchase of paddy fields whose rental income was earmarked for incense and offerings. The oldest dated physical trace is an 1875 plaque bearing the hall’s name, and the building, now effectively operating as a Weng family private temple venerating Guanyin.
