During the Japanese colonial period, more than 200 martial arts halls (武德殿) were constructed across Taiwan to promote Japanese martial arts and serve as training facilities for military and police personnel. While most of these structures were managed by the ROC authorities after World War 2, the vast majority have since been demolished or repurposed, though a select few have been designated as historic sites and preserved for their architectural and cultural significance.
