A scattering of old tobacco barns in Ruibei (瑞北), a village north of central Ruisui that was laid out as a private Japanese immigrant village where tobacco was grown as a cash crop. Most of those still standing are Osaka-style structures rebuilt after a flood destroyed the original barns around 1951, marked by the raised “prince tower” (太子樓) that vents the curing chamber above the roof ridge. Some are abandoned while others have been absorbed into family homes. None are known to be preserved and open to the public.
