Established in 1687, this Mazu temple in Puzi was first known as Pushu Temple (樸樹宮) after the hackberry tree under which, by tradition, an image carried from Meizhou refused to be moved any further. The town that grew up behind the temple took its name from the same tree. The present building dates to 1915 and was the work of master carpenters Chen Yingbin (陳應彬) and Guo Ta (郭塔), each responsible for one half. A fire in March 2013 gutted the main hall, which reopened in 2017.
