Zhuangjia New Village (裝甲新村) is a former military dependents’ village established in the 1950s for members of the 1st Armored Division. The village is organized as a long line of houses down an alleyway only around three meters wide. It was originally one of four similar villages in Hukou, but the others were destroyed long ago, and only this one is preserved. It was registered as a historic site in 2007 but redevelopment efforts are slow, or perhaps it is only open for special events as of the early 2020s.
