Established in 1955 as the Ministry of Communications’ Zhongxing New Village Telecommunications Bureau (中興新村電信局) in Zhongxing New Village, with the present building completed in 1958 and telephone service beginning in 1960. Its ground floor held an exchange room and a counter for telegraph and telephone business, while directory-inquiry and long-distance operator desks occupied the floor above. Slender in proportion and closely resembling the adjacent Bank of Taiwan branch, it features a stonewashed exterior and lattice bricks on an exposed concrete frame. The structure survived the devastating 921 Earthquake intact, was registered as a historic building in 2011, and now serves as the Chunghwa Telecom Zhongxing Service Center (中華電信中興服務中心).
