Originally named Sek-kháu Sanatorium (錫口養生院), after the old name for the area, it was established in 1914 as the first institution dedicated to treating tuberculosis. Taiwanese novelist Chung Li-ho (鍾理和) was a patient here from 1947 to 1950. After failing to pass an official review for heritage status the last remnants were demolished in 2019, leaving only some old wooden residences in the area.
