A former Japanese airfield on the outskirts of Huwei, Yunlin, known as Kobi in the Japanese colonial period. It was constructed late in the war, initially seeing some use as a training base in 1944, and later as a kamikaze base as the war effort became increasingly hopeless. After the war it became an ROC military base that was the scene of heated battles with townspeople during the 228 Incident of 1947. It was eventually decommissioned in the early 2000s and a vast, sweeping urban renewal plan has since reshaped the airbase and surrounding area.
