Established in 1936 as a clinic for the Railway Department’s mutual aid association (鐵道職員共濟組合), relocated to this site in 1940. It was one of the two major hospitals in Hualien during the Japanese colonial era, alongside the Karenkō Hospital (now Hualien Hospital). The hospital closed in 1983 due to financial difficulties and sat idle for years before the restored compound was converted into Stone Art Street (石藝大街), a commercial venue for local artisans. The actual hospital building remains disused in 2026.
