Established in 1950 as Zhonghai New Village (中海新村) for 163 households of pilots and ground crew from the 20th Air Force Group and 220th Supply Group in Hsinchu, its brick and tile homes better built than the bamboo and mud of many other villages. It emptied out as the second generation moved away in the 1980s and has since been demolished. The site is now a park beside the Hsinchu Municipal Performance Hall (新竹市立演藝廳).
